2012: Time for Change

Daniel Pinchbeck, author of the best-selling book, 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl, investigates ways to rapidly transform our unsustainable society into a regenerative planetary culture through a change of consciousness and the systemic implementation of ecological design. 

After experiencing a spiritual awakening through participation in the ceremonies of African and South American tribal shamans, Pinchbeck began a study of the Mayan Calendar that ends portentously in 2012.  This led to a practical exploration of our current society and how we are, in fact, trending towards an inevitable, tragic end.  Determined not to descend into existential crisis, Pinchbeck turned his eye toward practical ways to transform society quickly and to create a new paradigm of psychic evolution and pragmatic action in line with prophecies and myths that foresee humanity emerging into a “fifth world” of conscious evolution and cooperation.

The film follows Pinchbeck as he travels along his evolutionary road developing his thesis and putting it into action.  His conversations with contemporary thinkers and visionaries such as Dean Radin, Sting, Ellen Page, Barbara Marx Hubbard and Dennis McKenna are interwoven with animated sequences to explore this new paradigm that integrates the archaic wisdom of tribal cultures with the scientific method.

2012: A Time for Change projects a radical alternative to apocalyptic gloom and doom, and promotes an ideology where exploration of psyche and spirit becomes the new cutting edge, replacing the sterile materialism that has pushed our world to the brink.  With a personal awakening and a change of consciousness, a deeper sense of responsibility for the fate of the Earth can be achieved.
