“On the Hawaiian island of Kauai, where the road ends and the trail begins, winding 11 miles along the Na Pali Coast, is a hidden valley called Kalalau.”  Some people travel there to get away, others to find themselves, but all who go there are forever impacted by the magical place.  Thus starts, Drop In Drop Out: 11 Miles to Paradise, an entertaining and educational feature documentary that conveys the importance of Hawaiian cultures and belief system in today’s world.

In order to get to Kalalau, which National Geographic described as “the Garden of Eden,” and the most beautiful place on Earth, an 11-mile hike is required through treacherous terrain.  Upon arrival, visitors find a spiritual, magical land of myths and dreams.  The film captures the people, the place, the music, the food and the basic way of life of the people who have been dropping out of society and living on the Na Pali Coast since the beginning of the 19th century.  An alternative reality to the “civilized world.”

We delve into the lives of the characters that inhabit the sacred land and how they relate to Native Hawaiian culture that desires to protect and preserve this magical place for future generations.  North American Premiere.
