Tenzin is a Tibetan born and raised in India.  Alienated and lonely in his adopted home, he yearns to explore his true homeland.  One day, he impulsively hops on his motorcycle and embarks on a personal quest: to find his identity and discover the indestructible beauty and wonders of his magnificent homeland.

Tibet is, however, a nation under siege from a repressive regime.  While he does find friendship, camaraderie and even love along the way, including encounters with a "rucksack brotherhood" of hippies, thieves, his Indian stepmother, and monks, he cannot escape the horrors of a political world of which he wants no part.

On his journey, he decides to cross one of the most volatile borders in the world.  Looking only for the way to peace, both within himself and for the land he loves, Tenzin must find the courage to pursue the truth even if it means facing terrible disasters.  What he finds is a sense of his karma, and a glimpse of his destiny which is mirrored in the destiny of the Tibetan nation.

Inspired by the writings of real-life poet/activist Tenzin Tsundue, Semshook, the meaning of which is revealed at a pivotal point in the film, is as picturesque as it is profound.  On both a personal and global scale, it is a courageous and determined meditation of culture, identity, freedom, spirituality and politics.  Set against a cinematic backdrop both forbidding and resplendent, Semshook is a film as transcendent as the Himalayas themselves.
